Radiation Therapy
Diarrhea is a common, adverse result of abdominal-cavity and pelvic cancer radiation therapy. The radiation damages good tissues, as well as the cancer and results in the production of toxic inflammatory proteins and cell breakdown products that may cause diarrhea. Salient’s product may bind these toxins and inflammatory proteins in the GI tract and thus prevent the associated diarrhea when given prior to and concurrent with the radiation treatment.
