Infectious Diseases

People with infectious diseases such as Clostridium difficile (C.diff) can also suffer from diarrhea. The presence of C.diff in the patient’s intestines creates protein-based toxins that attack the intestinal wall, hindering a patient’s ability to properly break down and digest food, resulting in symptoms of diarrhea.

In studies at Texas A&M University, Salient’s CASAD™ has been proven in vivo to adsorb C.diff Toxins A & B.  The Company is now in the planning stages of a clinical study of CASAD’s effectiveness in curbing diarrhea in newly diagnosed C.diff patients and reducing the incidence of recurrence.
