HOUSTON, Texas -- Timothy D. Phillips, PhD, a professor at Texas A&M University and an internationally known expert in the world of food safety and mycotoxins, has joined Salient Pharmaceutical's Scientific Advisory Board.
Salient Pharmaceuticals Incorporated is a Texas-based, life sciences company developing a proprietary compound intended for use in treating severe diarrhea associated with chemotherapy, chronic conditions and infectious diseases. In Dr. Phillips, they have added to their scientific panel the world's leading expert in the use of the base compound behind Salient's CASAD(TM) product. Dr. Phillips has researched its use for years including a number of in vitro and in vivo studies, including critical human studies.

In 2009, Dr. Phillips was the recipient of the National Sigma Xi Award for Innovation. He has been the recipient of a number of grants from industry and government organizations including the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and United States Agency for International Development (USAID). He has authored or co-authored a number of white papers as well as presented before leading organizations such as the World Health Organization and the Center for Disease Control, on issues related to food safety, toxin mitigation and other critical issues.
Dr. Phillips is a Professor of Veterinary Integrative Biosciences at Texas A&M University and serves on the faculties of Toxicology and Food Science. He is also a member of the faculty at the Texas Tech University's Institute of Environmental and Human Health and the Texas A&M Health Science Center. Previously, Dr. Phillips has served as Director of the Center for Food Safety and Chair of the Faculty of Toxicology at Texas A&M University.
